St Tropez – Port Grimaud
Departure to Saint Tropez
You will discover the small fishing village, whose charm and beauty
attract painters from the 19th Century before being chosen by the
show-business stars. Visit of the village, the port, the Citadelle which
offers one of the most beautiful sightseeing of the gulf, the Massif des
Maures and the Saint Tropez peninsula.
A typical Provençal market is held every Tuesday and Saturday morning in
the Place des Lices.
Lunch in the bay of Saint Tropez
Visit of the beautiful village of Port Grimaud in the afternoon, the
so-called "la petite Venise Provençale". Stop Cogolin village. Visit of a
pipes factory.
Nestled in the heart of the Maures Mountains and bordering the Gulf of St
Tropez, Grimaud has maintained its medieval character. The village is very
appealing with its paved and flowered streets winding about all the way
from the Romanesque church to the ruins of the feudal castle. While
exploring the village you will see beautiful old houses that have been
superbly renovated. The village is located on the hillside within
magnificent scenery.

Island of Porquerolles

Return journey from Porquerolles at 5 :15 pm and arrival to La Londe les
Maures about 6 :00 pm
Porquerolles is the biggest of the three Gold islands in the Hyères gulf.
Seven km long and 3km wide, Porquerolles is the most popular island, with
the largest population. It is located at the same latitude as Cap Corse,
and therefore shares the same pleasant climate - almost daily sunshine
(more than 300 sunny days a year), mild winters (rarely below 0°C) and hot
summers with a delightfully cool seabreeze.

The visit of the major historic
monuments of the city will allow you to travel through different periods.
You will enter the city through one of the Medieval gates surrounding the

of "Le Castellet", "Sanary", "Bandol",
"oil mill" and wineyard
Departure to Le Castellet
Le Castellet is a feudal village which was founded in the year 950 A.C.
Set between Mediterranean skies and vineyards, where the Summer sun slowly
brings the precious Bandol grapes to maturity, this charming village
invites the visitor to walk in its tiny old streets.
Visit of one oil mill
Then transfer to Bandol, this internationally-renowned sea resort, with
its extensive yatching harbour equipped with 1500 berths
Lunch
Discover of Sanary, this little fishing port, a true jewel of the
Mediterranean, lives joyfully to the rhythm of the Riviera seasons.
With its colourful flower stalls and harmoniously painted frontages,
Sanary is just made for pleasure and relaxation. About 4 :00 pm, return
journey for a commented wine-tasting session in a "cru classé" from the

THE VOLCANIC SETTING OF CHAÎNE DES PUYS

In French Massif Central, near Clermont Ferrand
city, about 80 volcanoes are aligned on a 40 km north-south line and
constitute The "Chaîne des Puys" (from 95000 to 6000 yrs BP).
You will visit this typical beautiful country. The regional geological
setting, the eruptive dynamisms and products as well as the
geochronological data and volcanic hazards will be presented during this
trip.
You will stay in a comfortable hotel, in the medieval city of Besse en
Chandesse.
During these two days visit you will be enjoyed by the Auvergne regional
food.

Friday, September 10th: Maar and
phreatomagmatism
Departure from the meeting centre in the morning. Arrival at the hotel
in the afternoon.
Walking visit of the beautiful Lac Pavin.
Saturday September 11th: Chaîne des Puys and
the Limagne Rift : dynamism, regional geological setting and products
Morning : Puys de La Vache and Lassolas scoria cones. Puy de Dôme
volcano. Panorama on the Limagne tertiary intracontinental rift.
Afternoon : Free visit of the European park for volcanism Vulcania or
discovery of a volcano roots (open pit Puy de Lemptegy, the only one in
Europe ).
Sunday September 12th: Magmas mixing.
Industrial use of volcanic rocks.
Morning : Puy de La Nugère volcano. Volvic house of the rock (located
in a natural geological site).
Afternoon 14 h : Transportation towards Clermont Ferrand city station and
airport.
Minimum participants: 12
